As social media sponsors for Right To Play’s Olympisch Gala – what are the online results? We have seen hundreds of tweets, became a trending topic late at night and reached over 1 million Twitter timelines!
The gala dinner and auction organized by MCI Amsterdam for Right To Play in collaboration with NOC-NSF went very well. At the end of the evening, the total result of the silent and live auction was a stunning € 430,000 for supporting children with sports and play around the world. During the afternoon until after midnight, we created content and monitored Twitter and Facebook for both the Right To Play and MCI accounts, next to updating our personal and Nameshapers’ social media. Photographer Anouschka continuously provided us with beautiful pictures to use and when in doubt, we consulted marketing manager Bas about how to respond in the name of Right To Play.
Reach on Twitter
On Twitter, the event hashtag #OlympischGala reached hundreds of thousands. Mainly because of 2 tweets Alexander Pechtold sent to his huge amount of followers (thanks again!). Near midnight #OlympischGala was a number 10 (!) trending topic in The Netherlands. It’s reach was over 400,000 Twitter accounts and due to the 175 retweets by visitors and supporters elsewhere following this hashtag, messages were shown in 1,200,000 Twitter user timelines. Talk about reaching out!
Event photos in a Facebook album
We decided to post a selection of photos as one album on Right To Play’s Facebook page that we updated during the event. It is now possible for attendants, sponsors and crew to tag themselves and expand the reach of the event tremendously. Click on one of the photos below to enter the photo album and enjoy more impressions from the event.
A successful event
All in all, we feel this night has been an allround success for Right To Play and we hope our social media contributions have helped raise even more awareness for this good cause.
